2018 1025R hydraulics acting up

New member and first post here. I ran into a problem with my 2018 1025R with less than 500 hours on it.. I mostly use it for mowing and snow removal.

So I just put the 120R loader back on for some fall cleanup, and the hydraulics are acting really sluggish and jumpy. When I try to lift a full bucket of wet leaves, it groans, and the arms seem to stutter going up. It’s also started to make a weird whining noise when I hold the lever all the way up. Fluid level is good and it's not blowing any obvious leaks. I changed the hydraulic filter and fluid back in the spring, but this just started happening.

Has anyone else with a 1025R run into this slow, jerky action on the loader? Any quick things I should check before I have to haul it all the way to the dealer? Thanks for any advice!

Welcome! Check for air in the system, loose or partially connected quick couplers, and a restricted suction screen. Make sure the filter is OEM and seated properly. The whining at full lift is likely the relief valve, avoid holding it there. Let us know what you find.

Don’t forget to take a good look at the loader valve. If the spools are sticky or there’s some wear and tear inside, it can really mess with how it responds. You might notice some strange jerks or even groaning sounds when you put it under pressure. It’s worth checking out!

hi @ptrs481.jd have you checked the hydraulic fluid level? check if the fluid level is truly at the top of the fill area on the dipstick
if you suspect it's low, add a small amount of the recommended John Deere Low Viscosity Hy Gard oil and retest
it's important bcs a low reservoir level can draw air into the system
