I’ve been looking at codes on a JD, trying to figure out if it’s the ground speed sensor or the ECM that’s causing the issue.
What’s your go-to method for diagnosing these faults without losing your mind?
I’d love to hear your tips, tricks, and quick checks.

I once spent a whole morning chasing a phantom speed code, only to discover it was a grounding issue. Now, I always check the wiring and connectors first, and then scan the sensor output before jumping to conclusions about the ECM. It helps keep my coffee intake down and protects the parts budget.

One afternoon, my friend's Deere kept throwing codes while he was grading. My usual approach is to check the sensor resistance, shake the plugs a bit, and then check the ECM inputs using the software. I found a loose pin in under 20 minutes. Quick checks can save you a lot of time instead of scratching your head and swapping out parts.
