STX38 starter dead can’t find fuse

So, I just got my hands on this black deck STX38 that I inherited. I gave it a good clean-up, but now it won't start up. The solenoid seems to be fine, and I checked the safety switches, they look okay too. But I'm totally stumped about where the fuse or breaker might be hiding. If anyone has any tips or ideas, I'd really appreciate it!

It's awesome you're trying to get that old STX38 running! That doesn't have a fuse or breaker though, like you'd find on a car. Instead, it has a 15 amp inline fuse tucked away near the starter solenoid. It's usually a small plastic holder with a wire coming out of each end. You'll likely find it under the dash tower. If the solenoid is clicking but the starter isn't turning, that fuse is definitely one of the first things to check. It's a cheap and easy fix if that's the problem. Another thing to check is the ground wire on the engine block. You'll have issues if it's loose or rusty.

For older STX38s, just a heads up, the ignition switch might have some corrosion. This can stop the full power from getting to the solenoid, even if you hear a click. So, give those contacts a peek!
