2015 John Deere 1025r engine failure

looking for some help for my tractor. My JD 1025r (only 200 hours) just had a major engine meltdown. heard a loud klonk, then a bang, and now there's gray oil spraying everywhere
it looks like the air cleaner bracket snapped off
I’m 6 months out of warranty, anyone dealt with this? Is it a total rebuild or can I fix this on my own?

based on the way you described it, sounds like you threw a rod. take a look around and see if you see any holes in the block. begin by looking where you see the biggest puddle of oil then follow it up

Wow, that's rough, especially with just 200 hours on it. A friend had a similar issue that turned out to be a thrown rod caused by oil starvation. It’s definitely best to stop using it and get the dealer involved. Sometimes Deere offers some assistance in these cases.

Yikes, gray oil everywhere isn’t a good sign at all.
I remember seeing one where a bracket failed because of an internal issue.
In that instance, it ended up needing a new short block, which isn’t really something you can tackle on your own.

That klonk followed by a bang usually indicates an internal failure. I'd recommend documenting everything and really pushing Deere, even if it's out of warranty. At just 200 hours, they might still help out if you have a clean maintenance record.
