I've seen quite a few Deere tractors reach that 7,000 to 10,000 hour milestone, and it's clear that some parts just can't handle the stress indefinitely.

What’s usually the first component to fail on these high-hour machines, and how can you catch it before it becomes an expensive fix?

After pushing my 6105 past 7,200 hours, the steering linkages were the first to go they tend to get loose over time. A quick play test and listening for odd noises helps ensure you catch it early.

My 5055E reached 8,000 hours before I first noticed the hydraulic pumps starting to whine. A quick check of the fluid pressure and a visual inspection for leaks helped me avoid a costly repair there's nothing like catching a problem before it hits your wallet.

On my buddy’s 1025R, the PTO shaft seal failed after 6,500 hours. Now, he does a quick visual check and spin test every month. Simple things like that can save a lot of hassle and unexpected expenses
