Decoding oil choices for vintage tractors

I’m in the process of maintaining an older tractor and I keep getting different opinions on the right oil specs. The manual lists one grade but dealers and online sources are recommending various viscosities and synthetics. For anyone with experience, what oil options have you found to work well for older machines?

Stick with a reliable 15W-40 conventional oil for my old iron. It’s what the manual suggests and it’s always done right by me.

You can't go wrong with either option, sticking to 15W-40 or going for Rotella T4 is a smart move to keep those older machines running smoothly.
