Is it normal that the idler and transmission pulleys are vertical but the engine one is horizontal? asking since i need to install a drive belt to my 111 jd tractor. Also should the drive belt adjust?

Yeah, I think its quite normal for the idler and transmission pulleys to be vertical while the engine pulley is horizontal in some tractor designs. just focus on ensuring that the belt runs smoothly and stays aligned. as for the drive belt, you may need to manually adjust the tension to ensure if your tractor doesn't have an automatic tensioner, just to make sure the belt is neither too tight or loose.

It's perfectly normal. Just check if the pulleys are already worn or if you have weak tensioner spring. Agree with @space_and_earth make sure the belt is the right size. Best of luck!

Agree with the 2 who commented before me, I think the JD 111 really does have a horizontal engine pulley. The belt twist is part of the design. Make sure the belt is not too tight but it's well fitted!

Absolutely, that belt twist is perfectly normal for the JD 111. Great job checking the belt tension as well, it really affects its performance.
