My JD 445 is struggling for grip with the turf tires whenever I try to blade dirt or rocks. Looking at swapping the rears to Deerstone 405s, 26x12-12. That matches the size I've got now, so it's a straight change. What I don't get is why some folks change out the front tires too. My fronts are Carlisle 18x8.50-8 turfs. I don't see how swapping those to Ags is going to make a big difference unless you're trying to chew up grass or add steering bite in mud. So is there any actual reason to change fronts when swapping rears, or is it just people going for the "matched set" look? I'd rather save the cash if it won't actually help traction or handling.
