So, how do you stay on top of fuel contamination and water separation while out in the field?

I had a tractor that started acting up halfway through harvest, and sure enough, the filter light was on. Now, I drain the separator every morning, keep spare filters in the cab, and pay attention to any rough idling or slow throttle response. Catching water early really helps avoid bigger problems down the line.

After a rainy fall I got really concerned about the fuel quality. Now, I check the separator before any long runs, run clear jars weekly, and I’m always on the lookout for any power dips or hard starts. If it smells off or looks cloudy, it’s getting replaced no debate about it.

Nothing ruins a good day faster than a blinking filter light. Made it a point to check the bowl during lunch keep an extra filter handy and listen for any changes in how the engine sounds. If the power drops or the starts seem off I check the fuel first every single time
