Have you ever spotted some unwanted play in your loader linkage and thought about how to identify it without a full teardown? It can be a hassle! What’s your go-to technique for quickly and efficiently checking for play? I’d love to hear your tips.

After a long day of moving gravel, I noticed something was off when the bucket started to feel loose in a way I hadn’t experienced before. Now, I just park it, lift it a bit, and rock the bucket by hand while keeping an eye on the joints. Any little delay or clunk gives me a clear signal of where to start my inspection.

One afternoon, I heard a faint knock every time I curled the bucket, and I knew something was amiss.
I grabbed a pry bar, carefully loaded each joint, and watched for any movement.
If it shifts before the cylinder does, I can quickly pinpoint the issue.
