X300 being tricky

I'm having issues with my X300. So it starts up and runs great. it will even restart a few times right after. But if I let it sit for a little while after turning it off, it needs that starting fluid again to get going.

I've already swapped out the spark plugs, oil, air filter, and fuel filter, name it. The fuel filter still doesn't look very full.

Any ideas on what might be causing this? thank you everyone!

That low fuel filter and needing starting fluid after sitting? Classic fuel issue on an X300. Check for a fuel line vacuum leak or a carb problem.

Not sure about this tractor, but a friend of mine had a similar problem and he solved it with the fuel cap. Crazy, right? It appears it wasn't venting and was creating vacuum and his tractor would fail to start after letting it rest. He found this out by accident when he forgot to tighten the cap all the way.

Yeah the fuel cap trick actually works more often than you would like to think! It might be worth checking the pulse pump if yours has one, by the way, because as far as I know those can act up and cause weak fuel delivery after sitting.

I believe the cap trick is only a short-term solution. It seems like there's a problem with fuel delivery, possibly connected to the fuel pump or solenoid. The fuel filter appearing empty indicates that fuel isn't moving through the system correctly when the engine is idle. You should check how the fuel pump is working, test the fuel pressure, and make sure the fuel solenoid is staying energized. There might also be an issue with a stuck carburetor float or needle valve.
